more on Water for Christmas

my mind and heart is so wrapped up in this project and it's so exciting seeing everything that's going on and i can't wait to see what can happen in my community. it's always on my mind. last night i kept waking up and it was always in my thoughts.

this is why:

"This is a grass roots effort uniting people across the country in a cause bigger than
ourselves.

Water.

The lack of clean water is the leading cause of death in underdeveloped countries...killing
more people than even war and violence.

4500 children die every day from water related illnesses.

And almost within the reach of these children, just below the surface, is the solution--fresh
water waiting to be tapped into by the relatively inexpensive and permanent solution of a
well .

Americans spend 450 billion dollars each year at Christmas. At the same time, experts
believe it would only cost 10 billion dollars to drill enough wells to give the whole
world almost immediate access to clean water.

So this year we have partnered with Charity Water to see just how many wells we can build
and how many lives we can save by asking for Water for Christmas.

We believe that by giving up a little something--or maybe even a big something--we can
begin to see world change.

100% of money raised goes toward drilling fresh water wells in Africa." www.water4christmas.com

i have 14 faucets in and around my home that gives me clean water. i even have a refrigerator and a coffee pot that make that clean water even cleaner through filters. my grass gets to drink the same clean water. i can't imagine the horrifying numbers of how much the US spends on giving clean water to landscaping. i guess recycling water for landscaping is a whole other project though.

so many people are doing amazing things for this project. here they are and here's some ways you can contribute. if you click on the above link you can get some great tees. i can't wait to get mine.

purpose

i've had a stirring and yearning in my heart for a long time and God has been revealing His plan for it the last few months. i've always wanted to serve but i've been wanting to do more than just serve at church. i wanted to serve those who need it most, in my church, community, country and world.

a lot of it involves causes close to my heart, especially involving children and Africa, that i wanted to be a part of. i felt i could do them on my own but the impact is so small. i wanted to help make the impact bigger. what i've realized is lots of people want to do the same but just don't know what to do. through lots of prayer, time in His Word, sermons, serving, and other inspiring people i've come to realize that i want to help people find those causes to serve in or give to. a couple weeks ago my pastor talked about the impact of people coming together versus one person trying to do it on their own and that resonated with me so strongly.

my goal is to find projects and rally people to help. i want to present people in need and have lots of people want to help fill that need. so i will be presenting different projects for you to help with. some may be monthly some may need more time, some may be working with someone's cause like jody landers from now till Christmas(see first post).

when it comes down to it i just want to help and i want to help others help. there are a lot of people in need everywhere who need an outstretched hand.
